The Story
This Boise backyard was underused. The goal was a place where family and friends gather around a fire, in the evening as much as the afternoon.
The fire pit is the focal point, and the seating is set in a circle around it, so everyone faces the fire, the garden and each other. The patio is laid in an intricate paver pattern, each paver placed for a durable, level surface that suits the fire pit.
The fire pit is built from fire-resistant materials and designed with safety in mind. Lighting runs through the whole design, picking out the paver pattern and lighting the way across the yard.
The fire stretches the outdoor season well into the cooler months. With the lights on, the patio is as usable after dark as it is during the day.
Three Decisions That Shaped It.
