From Bare Dirt to a Finished Backyard.
Grading for drainage, a new sod lawn, a custom block fire pit and a water-conserving sprinkler system, designed and built by our team for a Boise yard that started from scratch.
- Scope
- Grading, sod lawn, concrete edging, custom block fire pit, sprinkler system
- The site
- A bare-dirt Boise backyard with low spots to grade out

The Story
This Boise backyard started as bare dirt. Everything had to be built from scratch: the grade, a lawn, a place to gather and a way to water it all.
The fire pit is placed to take in the best views and to give the yard a natural gathering point. The new sprinkler system was designed with water conservation in mind, delivering consistent, efficient watering through the growing season.
Work began with grading for drainage, clearing out low spots where water would collect, because the lawn and the hardscape both depend on that groundwork. Sod went down for an instant lawn, in a grass suited to Idaho's climate, and the fire pit was built from fire-resistant materials with safety in mind. New concrete edging defines the beds.
Three Decisions From the Ground Up.
- Grade Before Anything ElseGrading out the low spots first protects both the lawn and the hardscape from standing water.
- A Fire Pit Placed for the ViewThe fire pit sits where the views are best, giving the yard a natural place to gather.
- Water Used CarefullyThe sprinkler system was designed around water conservation, watering the lawn consistently and efficiently through the season.
